Howard Saunders Obituary

Howard Reedham Saunders, of Daleville, Va., a Korean War Veteran, born on March 12, 1931, passed from this life into eternal life on Thursday, June 10, 2010. He was predeceased by his parents, John Robert Saunders and Minnie Maye Hay Saunders; and a son, Bruce A. Saunders, who was killed in action in Viet Nam. Mr. Saunders was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Jeanette B. Saunders; sisters, Gaye Markham, of Roanoke, and Reba Long, of Greenville, W.Va.; children, son, Michael R. Saunders and wife, Jean G. Saunders, of Roanoke; daughter, Yancy L. Saunders, of Houston, Texas; stepsons, Billy Bryant and wife, Marie, and Michael Bryant and wife, Cindy; grandchildren, Michael R. Saunders II and wife, Deborah, Matthew R. Saunders and wife, Christina, Mark R. Saunders, M. Russell Saunders and wife, Christal, Marcie R. Saunders, and Brad Bryant and wife, Brittney; greatgrandson, Brayden; grandchildren, Adam Bryant, Justin Bryant and Tyler Bryant; five additional great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Monday, June 14, 2010, at Oakey's North Chapel. The Rev. Earl Clemmons will officiate. Interment will be in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens with Military Honors by the United States Army. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 13, 2010, at Oakey's North Chapel, 540-362-1237.
