Isabelle Jones Spencer

Isabelle Jones Spencer, 86, of Roanoke, died early Sunday morning (Mother's Day) May 9, 2010. Isabelle was a longtime member of Haran Baptist Church and was a retired registered nurse with over 40 years service from Lewis-Gale Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur B. and Mamie Sowder Jones; her sisters, Esther and Dorothy; her brothers, Vester, Julius and Lewis; and her husband, Malcolm Boyd Spencer. Surviving are her sons, Mark W. Spencer and wife, Lisa S. of Boise, Idaho, and Charlotte, N.C., Randy R. Spencer and wife, Darlene B., of Roanoke; her grandson, Matthew L. Spencer and Sarah Hudson, of Charlotte, N.C.; her sister, Elizabeth Sult and husband, Erroll, of Charlotte, N.C.; her brothers, Lester L. Jones, of Roanoke, Cecil C. Jones and wife, Sarah, of Salem; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at Oakey's South Chapel on Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at 12 noon with the the Rev. Mike Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's South Chapel, 540-989-3131.
