James Linwood Hancock

James Linwood (Bill) Hancock, 89, of Roanoke, Va., went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, April 27, 2010, with his loving wife of 71 years, and family by his side. Bill was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and greatgrandfather. He was the son of the late Elizabeth Hancock Alderman. He served in the United States Army during World War II as a Tech Sergeant and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church. Surviving are his loving wife, Mary Sue Hancock; two daughters, Carol H. Dunkley and husband, J.R., and Barbara "Bobbie" Hancock; grandchildren, Stephen Dunkley and wife, Maureen, Kim Jordan and husband, Bryan, Lisa D. Scaglione and husband, Bob, Stefanie Wilson and fiance, Mark Murdock; along with eight great-grandchildren, Keenan Dunkley, Delaney Dunkley, Avery Jordan, Kendall Jordan, David Jordan, Austin Scaglione, Walker James Scaglione, and Reagan Scaglione. Mr. Hancock was preceded in death by a grandson, George "G.W." Wilson Jr. The family wishes to thank Our Lady of the Valley, Gentle Shepherd Hospice, Home Instead Care and Dr. Bonnie Culkin for their loving care during the last days of his life. The family requests that memorials be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Mr. Hancock's wishes are being honored by a private, family only, funeral and burial. The Rev.
