James Bishop Obituary

James Ray (J.R.) Bishop Jr., 43 of Pulaski, went to be with his Heavenly Father Sunday, April 11, 2010, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 24, 1966, in Pulaski, and was the son of Doris Simmons and the late James Ray Bishop Sr. J.R. was a former machinist for Pulaski Furniture Corporation, a graduate of the Pulaski County High School class of 1984, was an avid fisherman, and grew up while attending the Draper United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Raines Bishop, of Pulaski; two sons, Jonathan Cole Bishop, of Pulaski, and Christopher Ray Bishop, of Wytheville; his mother, Doris Simmons, of Pulaski; three sisters, Cathy Draper and her husband, Ernie, of Dublin, Lisa Bishop and her companion, Rick Niece, of Pulaski, and Teresa A. Bishop, of Pulaski; two aunts, Beulah Webb, of Draper, and Lucille Cooper, of Mechanicsville. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Bonnie Horton Raines, of Pulaski; several nieces and nephews and many cousins. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 15, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Seagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny Howlett officiating. Interment will follow in Thornspring Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
