John Loyd Flint Sr., 88, of Glasgow, died Thursday, June 27, 2013, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born December 24, 1924, in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Tucker Randolph Flint and Maggie Tolley Flint. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Flint. Mr. Flint was a member, deacon, and trustee of the Natural Bridge Baptist Church. Loyd was very faithful with offering his carpentry skills at the Natural Bridge Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Virginia A. Flint; six children, Diana Irvine and husband, Marvin, Ailene Dudley and husband, Fred, all of Glasgow, Violet Kessler and husband, David, of Buchanan, Rosemary Bennington and husband, Stewart, of Lexington, Donald Flint and wife, Linda, of Greenville, David Flint and wife, Carlene; one brother, Robert Earl Flint, all of Glasgow; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2013, at Natural Bridge Baptist Church with the Pastor Randy Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in Loyd's memory to the Natural Bridge Baptist Church, P.O. Box 35, Natural Bridge, VA 24578. Family will receive friends 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 2013, at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.
