John Payne Obituary

John Payne Jr., 85, of Roanoke, Va., died Saturday, June 12, 2010, in the VA Medical Center in Salem. He was the son of the late John and (Lottie) Payne Sr., of Bedford. He was retired from N&W Railroad after 32 years of service. He is survived by four daughters, Cheryl BoydWhite (William), of Bethel, N.C., Beverly Payne and Bridget Cabbler, both of Roanoke, Valerie Maxwell, of Bristol, Va.; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Mrs. Irene Brown, of Bedford. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at 1 p.m. at the Oakmulgee Baptist Church in Bedford Co. Interment will follow in Fairmont Cemetery Bedford. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Friends may view on Tuesday after noon at the funeral home. Arrangements by Bedford Funeral Home.

Beverly, Bridget, and Valerie we are so sorry to hear that "Daddy Payne" has passed. Back in the day he kept us all as kids doing the right thing! He'll be missed. We love you all and will keep you in our prayers. From all of us, The Burnette's.
