John Pelish Jr., 86, of Stephens City, died Tuesday, July 2, 2013, peacefully at home surrounded by his family. John was born March 12, 1927, in Mayfield, Pa., the son of the late John and Mary Pelachyk Pelish. He entered the Navy in 1944 as a first class petty officer and spent tours in Morocco, Aleutian Islands, Alaska and Hawaii. He graduated from University of Michigan in 1953 majoring in Industrial Engineering. He worked for Boise Cascade and O'Sullivan. John was a member of Middletown Presbyterian Church. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Graham Pelish; and his grandson, Troy Allen Pelish.

Surviving are his children, Tamara Pelish, and husband, Wesley Beemer, of Ann Arbor, Mich., Peter Pelish, of Pittsburgh Pa., Bruce Pelish and wife, Martha, of Vinton, and Paul Pellish, of Boyce; and grandchildren, Kendall Pelish, Clint Pelish, Teal Pelish and Elizabeth Pelish.
The family will receive friends Friday evening, July 5, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Winchester. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Rose Wayland officiating. Burial will follow in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
