Lee Davis Obituary

Mr. Lee Clark Davis, 58, of 3038 Melrose Avenue, Apt. #808, Roanoke, Va., died on Saturday, July, 3, 2010, at the Veterans Medical Center, Salem, Va., after being in declining health for the past seven months. Mr. Davis was born on January 15, 1952, in Danville, a son of the late Clark Lee Davis and the late Dorothy Louise Evans Davis. He had lived most of his life in Danville and lived the last six years in Roanoke. He was employed by the Veterans Administration as a patient escort until his health failed. He had served in the United States Army and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Davis is survived by his companion and caretaker, Sue Buckland, of Roanoke; a daughter, Sheryl Davis, of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sons, Gambit Shreves and Eric Davis, both of Danville; one granddaughter, Emily Shreves, of Danville; seven sisters, Louise Pruitt and husband, Kent, Mary Sue Allen and husband, Raymond, Margie Thomas, Shirley Crumpton, Valeria Phelps and husband, Linwood, Teresa Mitchell and husband, Don, all of Danville, and Rosemary Bowen, of North Carolina; and five brothers, Wayne Davis and wife, Judy, Garrie Davis, Charles Davis and friend, Jeanie Pleasents, Evans Thomas Davis and wife, Gloria, all of Danville, and Ronie Davis, of Dry Fork. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Janice McCormick. A Graveside Service will be conducted 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 8, 2010, in the Mausoleum Chapel of Danville Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Billy Cook officiating. Military Rites will be performed by Dan River Post #1097, American Legion Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at WrennYeatts North Main Chapel on Wednesday, July 7, 2010, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests that memorials be sent to the Danville Cancer Association, 2323 Riverside Drive, Suite J, Danville, Va. 24540.
