Lorene Barton Musgrove

Lorene Barton Musgrove, 80, of Salem, Va., witnessed to the resurrection on Thursday, April 22, 2010. She was born in Bedford County on July 1, 1929. Professionally, she worked for C & P Telephone Company and then later retired from G.W. Carver Elementary School as a cafeteria worker after 17 years of service. Between careers, she focused on raising her family and specifically her grandsons who always came first. Preceding her in death were her parents, Charlie R. and Mary Morgan Barton; and husband, William Jennings Musgrove Sr. Her surviving family includes her sons, William (Bill) J. Musgrove Jr. and wife, Lori, and David R. Musgrove; daughters, Diane Musgrove Bannister and husband, John, and Linda Musgrove Cunningham and husband, Bill; brother, C. Richard Barton and wife, Lillian; sister, Eva Barton Oakes and husband, Billy; grandsons, Hunter Cunningham and wife, Leslie, Robbie Musgrove, Jacob Musgrove, and Logan Musgrove; and greatgranddaughters, Caitlin Cunningham, Keyara Musgrove, and Giania Barbour. The family wishes to thank special caregiver and friend, Becky Rea, for her unending love and support over the years. A period of visitation will be held on Sunday, April 25, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, April 26, 2010, at New Hope Presbyterian Church in Salem with the Rev. Cameron Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.
