Dear Kay and family, today is thursday, april 8th, and I only just now heard that Lyla passed away. Roger and I saw her before we left for vacation on 4-2-10, when we went in to visit Dot. Roger and I were very concerned about Lyla, and I went to her bedisde and held her hand and smiled at her and she lovingly squeezed my hand and gave me the sweetest smile. I always enjoyed seeing your mother while at the Berkshire, since she always had such a kind face and sweet disposition. She was a special person and I know you will miss her dearly. I am so glad that she had you to look after her in her last years. You are a dedicated and loving daughter. Thank you for everything that you have done to help Roger and Glenn to look after their Mama - you did so much and we have always been thankful for your comforting presence. your many kindnesses are sincerely appreciated, but not often enough expressed. You are a loving friend and I'm certain there are many oothers whose lives you have touched. My sincerest condolences for your loss. I hope to see you again some day soon. Linda Law, and Roger Wheeling (and Dot Poage :)

Its so hard to let them go, but think of the joy they now have with the loved ones gone before them. That above everything else gives one comfort knowing it must be another great reunion when they enter heaven. She was loved by so many, and a favorite aunt I will not forget. Lyla was one of a kind, loved reading her varied opinions in the Roanoke Times letter to the editors. She loved doing her embroidery, I have a pillow she made for me with one of my cherished chihuahuas, done perfectly every stitch.
She will surely have some questions for Jesus, right up front, asking him about things in the Bible that didnt sound just right to her. Just think of these things, and the grief will flee into a joyful memory. Kathy Crowder Rhodes, Troutville
