Margaret Ann Smith, 74, of Salem, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2013. She was born on March 5, 1939, in Detroit, Mich., to the late James Romeo and Dolly Burch Smith. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Fannie Smith Craighead Monroe. She was a 1957 graduate of Lucy Addison High School. She retired from Lewis-Gale Hospital with 40 years of service as a food service coordinator. She was in the LOA program with five years of service at Greenvale School. She is survived by a devoted sister, Adrine P. Smith; nephew, Wayne Craighead; brother-in-law, Mack Craighead; devoted cousins, Robert Bethel (Panama), of Washington, D.C., and Sandra Faye Woods, of Detroit, Mich.; friends, Bernice Glasby (Willie), of Hampton, Barbara Johnson (Carl), of Martinsville, Amos Petty (Janice), of Temple Hills, Md., Regenia Jones, William Hayes, Helen Johnson, Carolyn Bryson, Shirley Poindexter, Gladys Parker, Ethel Brown, and Steve Brown; and a host of other relatives and friends.
