Marvin Rowe Stimpson Jr., 88, of Farmville (Cumberland County), died Sunday, November 11, 2012, in Richmond. He was born April 13, 1924 in Farmville to the late Marvin Rowe Stimpson, Sr. and Camelia Hugh Holman Stimpson. He was a dairy farmer and a United States Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr. Stimpson is survived by his wife, Myrtle, of Farmville; three daughters, Gail Doss (Bill), of Farmville, Valarie Stimpson, of Bonaire in the AN Islands, and Debra Gillispie (Carroll Jr.), of Cumberland; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Stimpson and Paul Stimpson; and three sisters, Edith Sanderson, Lucille Reynolds and Annie Stimpson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2012, in Brown's Presbyterian Church with military honors. Burial will be held privately in Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Shorter Funeral Home, Farmville.
