Mary Carper Obituary

Mary Carper, 88, of Roanoke, passed away Friday, July 9, 2010. Born December 25, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Maggie Philpott and George Prillaman. Mary was also preceded in death by her husband Meredith O. Carper. Mary graduated as an LPN from the Roanoke Memorial School of Nursing in 1975. She worked at every hospital in the Roanoke area, retiring from Carilion in December of 1998. Mary was a member of Virginia Heights Baptist Church. Surviving is her son Don M. Carper; her daughter, Mary Frances Carper Bowen and her husband, Gary; granddaughters, Jacqueline L. Bowen St. Clair and her husband, Jack, Candice Bowen Underwood and her husband, Chris; greatgrandchildren, Jonathan, Sierra, Caleb, and Blake. She was a loving wife, mother, and granny to her family. We will miss her greatly. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2010, in the Salem Chapel of Lotz Funeral Home with the Rev. Nelson Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Huffman Memorial Park in Craig County. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lotz Salem Chapel.

we will miss your smiling face, Aunt Mary. Always a kind word for everyone and a very sweet smiling face. great memories of the wonderful Christmas parties and staying over on the weekend growing up. May the family be comforted by all the wonderful memories.. i know my mom (Sue), Mary, Maude, Mickey, Vera, Freda and Lucille are at peace and kicking up their heels, chatting, laughing and looking out over all of us :-) Rest in Peace, Mary.
