First I want to express my condolances on the passing of your mother. It is so difficult. But I also want to tell you of a strange coincidence. My mother's name is also May Howard and she too was a war bride from London. She lives in Pulaski and has been here since Ap of 1946. To add to the coincedences, her mother's name was Annie and Edwin T. Howard is the name of my late great uncle.
It is too bad that the two May's never got to meet.
I also wonder if we aren't related through the Howard side. Maybe we can compare family histories some time.
Again, I am so sorry for your loss.

Dear Edwin -
I remember your mom from when we were in the 8th grade together, always loved to hear her English accent and recall her cheerfulness and energy. I'm so sorry for your loss and sorry I didn't do better in keeping up with her and you over the many years since then. My sympathy to you and your family.

My thoughts and prayers are with you during your loss. I only met May one time when Rick was in the hospital several years ago, but she was a beautiful lady that I know will be missed. Rick spoke of her often, and always laughed about her still being 39.

Anne & Duane. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Having the pleasure to have met and talked with your Mom during the time we worked together Anne, was memorable and fun to talk to. I loved her wisdom about life. She was young at heart in every way. May God keep you in perfect peace during this time.

When I was married to John Howard I was awed (and still am) by May's regal presence and her powers of persuasion. She leaves evidence of that indomitable will and energy in the city of Roanoke made better by her life's work, and in all her family that inherited her Howard charm and unquenchable spirit. Although I will miss her, I am comforted by the thought that her doting husband, Mickey, was the first to greet her in Heaven with, "Sit down, old girl, you've had a long trip."

My love and prayers go out to John, who recently made a home for May with him; our children, Clint Howard and Megan Dean who adored their remarkable grandmother, and all the Howard family in this time of sorrow.

For every tear shed, may God bless you with a laugh as you share your memories of her.
