Michael Akers Obituary

Michael Keith Akers, formerly of Roanoke, Va., passed away at age 53 on May 28, 2010, at his home in Southport, N.C., following surgery. He served in the United States Navy stationed in Hawaii and California. He owned and operated Masters Repair in Richmond, Va., retiring to North Carolina to enjoy the ocean and fishing. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Richard Akers. Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Evelyn A. and Paul G. Black; sister and husband, Debra and Lee Shepperson. He leaves behind many dear friends in North Carolina and Virginia; and a very special dog, Dee-O-Gee. A Graveside Service will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 12, 2010, at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with Pastor Glenn Giles officiating. Arrangements by Oakey's North Chapel, 540-362-1237.
