Nina Helena Jones Holdren 90, of Thaxton, passed away Friday February 22, 2013, surrounded by her three daughters. She was the daughter of the late Joel Leftwich Jones and Sarah Virginia Steffey Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Edward Woodrow Holdren Sr.; three sons, Edward Woodrow Holdren Jr., Ronald K. Morgan, John H. Morgan Jr.; a son-in-law, John D. Wilkes; and her extended family of three sisters and three brothers. Nina was a member of Glade Creek Lutheran Church and more recently attended the Liberty Cowboy Church of Bedford Virginia. She was retired from Sam Moore Furniture Company. She was a "natural" cook who made numerous meals for her family using no recipes. She was famous for her deviled eggs, pies, dressing patties and her Mothers Applesauce Cakes. She never met a stranger, and related well to the "younger generation ". When she smiled her eyes danced! She loved to dance, travel and take trips to the beach with her family.
The Guest Book is expired.
