Pauline Claytor Obituary

Pauline Ogden Claytor, daughter of Howard Raymond and Hazel Stinnett Ogden, was born on August 4, 1926 in Covington. She died May 8, 2009. She is survived by her children, Barbara Claytor Trail and her husband, Henry, Richard Ogden Claytor and his wife, Rena and Kristie Claytor and her husband, Steve Hoke; three granddaughters, Rana Claytor, Jennifer Trail and McKayla Hoke; one great-grandson, Justis Beverly; one brother, Wayne Ogden and his wife, Dreama; and two nephews and one niece. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Howard R. Ogden, Jr. Poly was employed as an Administrative Secretary at Industrial Rayon Corporation Hercules Incorporated, retiring in 1989. She was a member of Edgemont Presbyterian Church since 1938, serving as Youth Leader, choir member, Circle Chairman, Sunday School teacher, and Deacon. She was a member of The Covington Business and Professional Women's Club since 1953, holding Local, District and State offices. She also actively served in the Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center, The Alleghany Highlands Arts Council and Alleghany County Historical Society. In keeping with Polly's wishes, her body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, May 11, 2009 in the Edgemont Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Donnie Bowker officiating, assisted by the Rev. Dr. William M. Harris. Following the memorial service, a reception will follow in the Ragsdale Fellowship Hall at the church. The family will receive their friends Sunday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Arritt Funeral Home. The family suggests that memorial donations, in Mrs. Claytor's name, may be made to the Edgemont Presbyterian Church Building Fund. The online guest book is available at arrittfuneralhome.com.
