Pearl Lee Obituary

Pearl Marie (Dollie) Young Lee, 92, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away Friday, April 16, 2010, in her home after a gradual decline in health. Dollie was the fifth of seven children born to Dallas and Mary Jones Young. She was born April 14, 1918, in Floyd County, Va., and lived there most of her life. She resided in Christiansburg, Va., in her later years. She was married to Arthur Elgin Lee in 1940 until his death in 1976. A longtime member of Floyd Baptist Church, Dollie was always eager and happy to help others in need. She was accomplished and hard working, both in the sewing factory and in her garden and kitchen. Dollie will be remembered for her humor and for her kind and gracious nature. Left to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Celeste Lee; grandchildren, Alison and Christopher Lee, of Christiansburg; dear sister, Minnie Sweeney, of Christiansburg; sister-in-law, Anna Young, of Roanoke; and several nieces and nephews and special friends. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, April 19, 2010, at Gardner Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Todd Triplett and Dr. Dave Holladay officiating. Interment will follow at Jacksonville Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit the family at Gardner Funeral Home on Sunday evening, April 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. The family would like to thank Good Samaritan Hospice and all of the private duty nurses for their help and kindness toward Dollie. Also, the many cards, calls and prayers on Dollie's behalf are much appreciated. Condolences to the family may be made at www.gardnerfuneralhomefloyd.com.

Dollie was one of the sweetest people I have ever known. I had a different father than my brother and sister, but Dollie never made any difference in us. I always felt like she was my aunt and she always made me feel like family, and I was always welcome. God has received a very special angel back into his arms. Dollie we will all miss you. Love you
