Ray Ayers Obituary

Ray L. Ayers, 81, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Friday, July 9, 2010. He was a member of the Vinton Moose Lodge and a United States Navy veteran. He was retired from Grand Piano and is preceded in death by his wife, June Ayers. Surviving are daughters, Georgia Schmitt and Sheila Vineyard, of Roanoke, and Wendy Webb, of Salem; stepchildren, James Sirry, of Elizabeth City, N.C., Laura Gillaland, of Hawaii, and Douglas Sirry, of Newport News; 10 grandchildren; and brother, Bobby Ayers, of Roanoke. The family would like to thank Good Samaritan Hospice and the staff of Our Lady of the Valley for all their compassion and care. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Monday, July 12, 2010, at Oakey's North Chapel with Pastor David Skole officiating. Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 11, 2010, at Oakey's North Chapel, 540-362-1237.

Shelia& Family I just learned of Rays passing yesterday,I am deeply hurt by his loss to us all, my Mom Agnes and Ray had a bond and I was able to share in the spirit of there closeness, Rays personality was so unique and enjoyable ,I would have came to his services if someone would have contacted me, I'll never forget him, but I'll bet him and Mom or tell storys and laughing in heaven this very moment, Love always Joey Blizard & Billie Jo , Storm .
