Reid Allen Blankenship

1926 - 2008

Reid Allen Blankenship, 82, of Ferrum, died Saturday, November 29, 2008. He was born on August 25, 1926, a son of the late Henry Z. and Frances Ferguson Blankenship. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Woods Blankenship who passed away April, 12, 2008; sister, Mildred Wade Peters; brothers, Donald Blankenship and Tommy Blankenship. Mr. Blankenship was retired from Ronile, Inc. and was a lifetime member of St. James United Methodist Church. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Leverne Blankenship; daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Sherrard Flora; seven grandchildren; ten greatgrandchildren; sisters, and brother-in-law, Nancy and W.D. Young, Carol Ledbetter and Betty Robertson; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Blankenship. Funeral services will be conducted from St. James United Methodist Church 2 p.m. Monday with Rev. Mary S. White and Rev. Liz Lazenby officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. His family request that memorial contributions be made to St. James United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 38, Ferrum, Va. 24088. His family will be receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
