Richard L. (Rick) Worley, 85, a longtime resident of Augusta County, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2013, at The Oaks in Salem, Va. He was born on June 1, 1928, in Nace, Va., son of Ira Lloyd Worley and Katie Alberta Parker Worley. Richard was a member of Finley Memorial Presbyterian Church; a member of Masonic Federal Lodge #213 (Clarke County), receiving his 50-year pin in April of 2004; and was a World War II veteran of the United States Army Air Corps and U.S. Air Force.

Rick worked 41 years in law enforcement for the State of Virginia, and retired as an investigator for the Virginia State Corporation Commission.
He was an outdoorsman, with a love for fishing and hunting. He was a talented woodworker, producing many fine pieces of furniture and crafts.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Ellen Worley; a son, James M. Worley; a sister Betty Worley; two brothers, Jerry Worley and Phillip Worley; and a granddaughter, Shayla Worley.
Surviving are two sons, Richard L. Worley Jr., and Jeffrey W. and Alice Worley, all of Salem; three sisters, Maxine Meyer, Nancy Smith, and Sue Gregory; three brothers, Harold Worley, Wallace Worley, and James Worley; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer Hamer, Jeremy Worley, Kyle Nolen, Amanda Nolen, Nikki Simko, Ryan Worley, Paris Worley, Nathan Worley, Chance Worley, Cheyenne Teubert, and Sierra Worley; five great- grandchildren, Drake Richmond, Killian Howard, Aylah Worley, Ethan Nolen, and Rossi Simko; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2013, at McDow Funeral Home.
A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 13, 2013, in the chapel of McDow Funeral Home by the Rev. H. Donald LaRue. Interment will follow at Augusta Memorial Park with honors conducted by the U.S. Honor Guard.
