Mr. Robert Doyle (Dick) Brock, 87, of Murrells Inlet, S.C., passed away Sunday, November 4, 2012, at his home. Born in Anderson, S.C., Dick was the son of the late Herman Doyle and Myrtle Boyd Brock. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II and Korea, enlisting at age 15 following the attack on Pearl Harbor. His naval service to his country was shortened due to health issues from an injury sustained aboard ship and, upon returning home, he went to work as a fireman with the town of York and later transferred to the York Water Works Department.

Dick began his sales career with Empire Laboratories in Lake City, S.C. and was transferred to Greensboro, N.C. and finally to Roanoke. After his company was sold to Rochester Chemicals, he decided to quit traveling the roads for a career in auto sales. He joined the sales team of Magic City Ford, a position he vigorously enjoyed until his early retirement, which was due to being upgraded to full disability from the Veterans Administration. Dick was a member of The American Legion, The Veterans of Foreign Wars and Boone Lodge #247 AF & AM in Troutville.
Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Eleanor Forbes Brock, of the home; his son, D. Lee Brock and wife, Jackie, of Rock Hill, S.C.; his daughter, Cynthia Lynn Brock, of Portland, Ore.; his sister, Wylna Brock McDaniel, of Columbia, S.C.; three grandsons, Chris Brock, Brock Aun and Zack Aun and two great-grandsons, Jayden Aun and Salem Aun.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Bradford Brock and two sisters, Claire B. King and Derrell B. Miller.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
