Rutha Kennedy Obituary

Rutha Sipple Kennedy, 91, of Roanoke, Va., died on Tuesday, June 8, 2010. She was born on March 2, 1919, a daughter of the late Sid and Nora Staten Sipple. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank Kennedy Sr.; and two sons, Benny and Bill Kennedy. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Frank Jr. and Joanne Kennedy, of Roanoke; daughter, Sue King, of Pinehurst, N.C.; grandson, Jeffrey and Tammy Kennedy, of Hartford, Wis.; granddaughter, Teresa and Jeff Van Buren, of Clermont, Fla.; and two greatgrandchildren, Quinn and Cara Kennedy. Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Saturday, June 12, 2010, from Pentecostal Church of God, Beech Creek, W.Va., with the Rev. J.D. Mahon officiating. Interment will follow in the Kennedy Family Cemetery at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carilion Hospice of Franklin County, 390 South Main Street, Rocky Mount, Va. 24151 or to Boones Mill Baptist Church Bldg. Fund, P.O. Box 230, Boones Mill, Va. 24065. Friends may call after 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 10, 2010, with her family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home and on Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Pentecostal Church of God, Beech Creek, W.Va.
