Virgie Mae Smith, 51, of Roanoke, died Sunday, June 9, 2013, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born July 9, 1961, in Charlotte County, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Dorothy Smith. Ms. Smith graduated from William Fleming High School, Class of 1979, and was employed with McDonalds for 15 years until her death.

Ms. Smith is survived by four children, Ashley Smith, Tameka Smith, Timothy Smith and Aneshia Smith; nine grandchildren, Zy'Mirah Smith, Za'miyah Williams-Smith, Ja'nye Hairston-Smith, Jeremiah Davis, Italia Smith, Tahmiya Smith, Kanasia, Kanadia and Kanaria Smith. Also surviving are a brother, Roger Smith; three sisters, Sharon (Philip) Robinson, of Roanoke; Lisa (Darryl) Lee, of South Carolina and Latasha (Jabari) Davis, of Roanoke; three uncles, Roy (Ophelia) Ferrell, of Charlotte County, Charlie Smith and Robert (Linda) Ferrell, of Roanoke; three aunts, Marie Smith, of Charlotte County, Frances Scott and Geneva Younger, of Roanoke; two devoted friends, Koa Mack and Louise (Peewee) Borders; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2013, in the Hamlar-Curtis Chapel with the Rev. Brian Davis officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
