Willard Roy Bowyer

Willard Roy Bowyer, 64, of Daleville, Va., passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at Lewis Gale Hospital. He was a delivery driver for Pilkington Glass of Roanoke until he was disabled by Pancreatic Cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard L. and Minnie Dollman Bowyer; and brothers-in-law, J.T. Sink, Fred Bryant, James Bradberry and Leon Whitmer. He is survived by his wife, Florence Green Bowyer; and sisters, Mary B. Whitmer, of Roanoke, Minnie B. Bryant, Betty B. Bradberry, Annie B. Sink and Elsie B. and Givens West, all of Clifton Forge, Va. He is also survived by his nieces, Kathy Coldewey, of Roanoke, Andrea Kay Hixon, of Florida; and nephew, Kevin Leon Whitmer, of New Jersey. Roy was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Fincastle, Va. He loved hunting and fishing and his friends from childhood, the Mays family. He was close with his cousins and loved going new places he had never seen. He loved his church family. He loved UVA sports and the fact that education and respectability comes first at UVA. He was also an avid New York Yankees fan. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 16, 2010, at Rader Funeral Home with the funeral service being held 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2010, at Rader Funeral Home with Pastor Donnie Scarlett officiating. Interment will follow in the Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Fincastle. Arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home, Daleville, Va.
