William Ambrose Grove

William Ambrose Grove, died on Thursday, April 15, 2010, at the Virginia Veterans Care Center, Roanoke, Va. Born on March 14, 1926, Bill was the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Burnham O. Grove, of Roanoke. He was predeceased by his brother, Dr. John Pendleton Grove II, of Roanoke, and by his sisters, Elizabeth Grove Oliver and Marye Grove Stone. Bill is survived by his nephews, John Pendleton Grove III and Richard G. Stone; nieces, Whitney Grove Vanderwerff and Elizabeth Oliver; and loving great-nephews and nieces. Bill was a long-time member of Christ Episcopal Church. A graduate of Jefferson High School and Richmond Professional Institute, he served in the United States Navy in World War II. He enjoyed a long career as a graphic artist with Stone Printing Company. The family wishes to thank the Virginia Veterans Care Center nursing staff for their compassionate care for Bill. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2010, at Evergreen Burial Park with the Rev. Deborah Hentz Hunley officiating.
