William Edwin (Bill) Best, 88, of Daleville, and formerly of Waynesboro, went to be with the Lord Thursday, May 23, 2013. He was born September 23, 1924 in Cleveland, Ohio, a son of Paul Butler and Muriel Purvis Best. Bill was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Ohio State University, a World War II veteran with the Army Air Force, and retired from General Electric with over 30 years of service. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Kathryn Best, and brothers Paul and Richard.

Surviving are his children and their spouses, Mark and Susan Best of Chesterfield County, Barbara and George Lambourne of Grand Haven, Mich., and Luanne and David Schrader of Roanoke; brother John Best of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren John Best, Jennifer Lynn and husband Jeff, Scott Lambourne, Katie Molen and husband Dan, and Kyle Schrader and wife Blake; great-grandchildren Ava and Sebastian; nieces and nephews.
A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2013 in the chapel of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Waynesboro, by the Rev. David Rochford and the Rev. James Young. Interment will follow with military honors.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4p.m. Sunday at St. Mark's Methodist Church, Daleville, and from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at McDow Funeral Home, Waynesboro.
