William Snyder Obituary

William Thomas (Bill) Snyder, 73, of Elliston, Va., died on Monday, May 10, 2010, at the V.A. Medical Center, Salem. He was born in McCoy, Va., on December 11, 1936, to the late Walter Basil and Alma Lucille Kessinger Snyder. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Wesley Allan Snyder. He was retired from Hercules, Inc. with 14 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Alice L. Snyder, of Elliston; one daughter and son-in-law, Breena Kay and Lawrence Eugene Bolen, of West Virginia; three sons and daughter-in-law, William Benjamin and Lori Snyder, of Indiana, and Ricky Allan Snyder and Timothy Lee Snyder, both of Fall River, Mass; four stepdaughters and stepson-in-law, Betty Lou and Charles Atkins, of Pulaski, Becca Dora Herron, of Roanoke, Bridgett Gail Herron, of Bent Mountain, and Barbara Schnurman, of South Carolina; one stepson and step daughter-in-law, Stuart Stephenson and Shelly Mae Herron, of Shawsville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert "Bobby" and Virginia Yates Snyder, of Bassett, and Edward Wayne and Lydia Harris Snyder, of Danville; several grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. on Friday, May 14, 2010, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Virgil McHone officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday evening, May 13, 2010, at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg, Va.
