Lee was my friend and classmate. Lee was one of the finest! I met his wonderful wife, Norma, children and other family members at the visitation. I found Lee's family gracious, loving, and reflecting the Christian Spirit that I always found in Lee. Our knowing that Lee is now with his Heavenly Father, and Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, renews and strengthens our faith in God. His Holy Spirit will continue to comfort, guide and care for us until the day when we arrive in heaven to live forever with God, Jesus and our families and friends who are there. I pray that God wil continue to bless Lee's family and provide his richest blessings and gifts to them.

Our family enjoyed conversations with Mr Lee & little Shandy out in the yard. He was always very kind to us, and my 4 children loved it when our little dog and Shandy could greet each other!
He grew tomatoes on his deck early this summer & made sure to offer us some whenever he got a chance. Sometimes it's those little things that turn out to be the bright spot in the day, you know? Good neighbors make you feel safe & content. We will truly miss his smiling face. So sorry to the family for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are certainly with you during this time of mourning.

Lee was my "first love" ---in third grade at Fieldale Elementary and as we continued through school he remained a great person, friend and classmate. I am fortunate to have been able to know him. Larry , Norma , children and grandchildren I know you have an empty feeling right now, but hopefully you will soon be filled with happy memories. God Bless all of you and keep you in his care. Norma, I send my sincere sympathy to you and your family during this time of loss. Lee was a very kind person and always cared about others even during his time of illness. I enjoyed hearing about your weekends away just to get Lee out of the house. You took such great care of him now, take great care of yourself because that's what he would want. I bless you Norma and I love you with the love of Christ.

I guess I was the last high school classmate to talk to Lee...only the night before he left us. I will miss him. God bless his family.

Lee was my classmate at Fieldale High School in the 1950's. I last saw him at our fiftieth class reunion. He and his wife, Norma were in attendance. When we spoke, the years rolled away, and I could see the bright. beautiful young man I spent my early school years with. Norma and Melissa, I know that having Lee as a mainstay in your life was a marvelous gift of serendipity and grace . Larry, you; his brother, have had him the entirety of your existence. Lee has always been there. The loss is shattering for all with whom he shared his being. There's a lady in Fieldale today who is saddened but grateful for memories. May all who loved Lee, and grieve this loss, be able to smile through your grief with appreciation for the wonderful gift of having known and loved him.

May God Bless us, each and every one,

Jeri Rakes Smith
