Jasper William (Pete) Caldwell Sr., 84, of Salem, passed away on Monday, October 29, 2012. He was born on February 15, 1928, in Giles County. He was the son of the late Minor Purson and Exie Louise Caldwell. Pete proudly served in the Navy. His passion was gardening, having multiple gardens and when he was not in his garden you could find him fishing or hunting. He was retired from GE and also worked for Roanoke City's Western Virginia Water Authority Plant for many years.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Fannie Caldwell; children, Phyllis, Jasper Jr., Minor and Kathy Caldwell; sister, Margaret Stultz; brother, Roy Beckner Sr.; sisters-in-law, Alice, Josie, and Pearl; and brothers-in-law, Robert, Thurmond and Leslie.
Surviving family includes his sisters, Thelma Caldwell White, of Salem, Shirley Naff, of Roanoke, and Wanda and husband, Richard Martin, of Salem; sister-in-law, Pat Beckner, of Salem; brothers- in-law, Clarence and Dorothy Bowyer, of Vinton, and Aubrey and Esther Bowyer, of Blue Ridge; a number of beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins, especially Curtis and Dona Link; and two grandchildren, Bradley Fielder and Kayla Robertson.

Funeral Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 2, 2012, at Lotz Chapel Salem. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.
