Arden H. Porter, 92, of Stuarts Draft, and formerly of Roanoke, was called by God to his Heavenly home on Tuesday, February 26, 2013. Born in Danville, Arden grew up in Buchanan, but called Roanoke his home. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Ann Fringer Porter; and his brothers, Maynard and Emory.

He is survived by his daughter, Debbie; son-in-law, Michael; grandson, Bryan; and several nieces, nephews, and sisters-in-law.
Arden was a World War II Army veteran and a retired General Electric (Salem) employee. He was a member of Preston Oaks Baptist Church, where he and his wife enjoyed serving as part of the Travelers Senior Group. His lifelong hobby was providing picture framing for family and friends.
Arden's family would like to thank his friends, and the staff of Stuarts Draft Christian Home, who made his life there happy, and provided undivided care and concern for six years.
Visitation will be held at Oakey's North Chapel on Friday, March 1, 2013, beginning at 6 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Living Hope Church, P.O. Box 1685, Waynesboro, VA 22980.
