Eula Lee Pennington (Penny) Liddy, 77, of Troutville, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013. Her favorite Irishman, Jack, came on St. Patrick's Day, took her by the hand and led her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Liddy; parents, Cora and Blaine Pennington; foster parents, Luella and Leonard "Chick" Turner; sisters, Earline and Janet. She is survived by her daughters, Donna Guill, (son-in-law, Tommy Guill) and Beth Assenat (son-in-law, Kevin Assenat); son, Scott Liddy; grandchildren, Cally Guill, John Guill, Morgan Ronk, Kelsey Liddy, Hayley Assenat, Olivia Assenat; great-grandaughters, Bayley Riddlebarger and Whitleigh Ronk.

Penny retired from teaching at Burlington Elementary School, Roanoke County in the late 1990's.
She was a lover of music and books. She studied music in college, and continued to play the piano and sing for us throughout her life.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Glebe Assisted Living for all of their care and support, especially Betty, Mary, and Heather who displayed so much warmth and bestowed much needed humor and reassurance to our family.
We would also like to thank the staff at Carrington Place, especially Kathy Smith, for their support and thoughtfulness towards our mother. Southern Care Hospice was remarkable in their ability to connect with our family and displayed much professionalism and kindness, especially Jennifer, Stephanie and Vera.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be sent to Southern Care Hospice, 5330 Peters Creek Road, NW Roanoke, VA 24019.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville, VA 24083. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 19, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m.
