Deborah Elaine Hale, 55, of Salem, went to join her husband, David, and dance with the angels on Tuesday, June 18, 2013. She was born in Richmond, a daughter of the late Harold W. Howard and Estelle Childress Howard, and had been an area resident for over 30 years. She was employed for many years at Orvis, and enjoyed cooking, camping, fishing, her garden and swimming pool, drag racing and Nascar. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, David W. Hale Sr., who passed away August 15, 2012.

She is survived by two sons, David W. Hale Jr. and Josh D. Hale and his fiancÃ©e, Lauren Kemp; a brother, Thomas Howard and his wife, Debbie; her dog, Scooter; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2013, at the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. The Rev. Roy Kanode will officiate. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday (today) at the funeral home.
