Alfrieda Polcaro
PITTSBORO — Alfrieda "Pete" Britt Polcaro, 76, of Pittsboro, died Dec. 22, 2013, at her home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Chapel Hill. A reception will follow.
Mrs. Polcaro was born Dec. 9, 1937, in Lumberton to Forest and Daisy Britt.
Mrs. Polcaro graduated from Lumberton High School in 1956. She continued her education at the N.C. Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1960. Mrs. Polcaro served many years as registered nurse in Lumberton, Durham and Chapel Hill. She concluded her nursing career in Chapel Hill as a home health nurse, where she gave her heart, soul and treasure to her patients.
Mrs. Polcaro was married 52 years to Joseph Polcaro, who she is survived by.
Mrs. Polcaro is also survived by her children, Adriana, Anthony and Giuseppe Polcaro as well as her sister, LaVon Taylor; her son and daughter-in-law, Ross Warren and Jennifer Polcaro; and her grandchildren, Nic and Nina Polcaro Warren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Forest Britt; her mother, Daisy Faircloth Britt; and her brother, Forest "Buddy" Britt.
Memorial gifts may be made in Mrs. Polcaro's name to your local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).

I would like to send my sincere sympathy to Pete's husband & children. Pete helped orient me at Home Health of Chapel Hill about 20 years ago; she was an outstanding nurse and just a wonderful person so I know this is a great loss for all of you.

I just always admired and loved "Pete"!! She was such an energetic person, and always, always smiling. I will never forget her.

Alfrieda was a friend in high school even though I was 2 years behind her. She was kind and a fun person. I was sorry to read about her passing and I thank you for sending the write-up to the Robesonian. Love and prayers.
