Ardell Locklear MAXTON — Mr. Ardell Locklear, 95, of 200 Daily Road, Maxton, was born Feb. 15, 1921, and departed this life on June 21, 2016, at Southeastern Hospice House. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Bell Locklear; his parents, Pevia and Burr Locklear; two brothers, Edward Locklear and Clifton "Cutten" Locklear; and a grandson, Ricky Deese Jr. The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Island Grove Baptist Church, the Revs, Jerry Lowry, Larry Locklear, Sam Henderson, and Earl Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Locklear is survived by his children, Rayon (Deloris) Locklear, Mildra (Henry David) Locklear Blue, RD (Loretta Lynn) Locklear, and Rita (Ricky) Locklear Deese; two sisters, Magalene Barton of Red Springs and Lillie Mae Siaven of Richmond, Va.; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. The visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Island Grove Baptist Church.

Linda R. "Lynn" Locklear LUMBERTON — Ms. Linda "Lynn" Locklear, 66, of 432 Circle Drive, was born Oct. 20, 1949, and departed this life on June 29, 2016. The funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at Revels Funeral Home Lumberton, the Revs. Timmy Hunt and George Locklear officiating. Burial will follow in the Oxendine Cemetery on Rennert Road. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. before the service at Revels Funeral Home Lumberton.

Megel, Don - Lumberton  
Don Megel LUMBERTON — Don Carl Megel, 84, passed away June 29, 2016. He was born in Lake County, Ill., on Nov. 18, 1931. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy and was the owner-operator of Megel Oil Company in The Quad Cities, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Jacob and Marian Steward Megel; his son, Michael Carl Megel; and his nephew, Jimmy Wirth. He is survived by his wife, Joycelyn Raff Megel of the home; two daughters, Karlene Sheesley and husband Bob of Winston-Salem and Paula Roach and husband Ron of Lumberton; two stepsons, Larry Raff of Crawfordsville, Ind., and Randall Raff of Indianapolis, Ind.; a sister, Joy Gordon of Orlando, Fla.; six grandchildren, Jason Mrosko, Kristin Utley, Ashlynn Utley, Brooke Utley, Megan Roach, and Anna Harden; six stepgrandchildren, Shane Raff, Traci Mountcastle, Amy Raff, Holly Daniel, Randy Lynn Raff, and Amee Lamendola; nine great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Linda Wirth and Kathy Swanson. A memorial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Floyd Memorial Chapel. Following the service, the family will welcome friends at the home of Ron and Paula Roach. Mary E. Oxendine ROWLAND — Mrs. Mary E. Oxendine, 72, of 187 Hidden Valley Lane, Rowland, was born Dec. 9, 1943, and departed this life on June 23, 2016, at her residence with her family and loved ones by her side. Mrs. Oxendine was preceded in death by her husband, James Franklin Oxendine; her parents, Cornelius and Pearlie Jane Hunt; and her brother, Cornelius Hunt Jr. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hickory Hill Freewill Baptist Church, Bishop Lesaundria Hunt and the Rev. Johnny Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Mary Ellen Hunt Blue and husband Beatle; William Datrius Hunt Jr. and wife Annette, Lisa Cone and husband Lee and Jerry Spaulding, all of Lumberton, Annette Hunt Campbell and husband Joseph, Dwayne Hunt, all of Pembroke and Jamey Hunt of the home. Also her brothers and sisters, James Earl Hunt of Pembroke, Johnny Hunt of Fairmont, Craven Hunt of Fairmont, Dennis Hunt of High Point, Sally Jane Clark of Fairmont, Verta Ree Hunt of Rowland, Ethel Locklear of Maxton and Diane Oxendine of Lumberton; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces nephews relatives and friends. Christine Britt Walters Parker LUMBERTON — Mrs. Christine Britt Walters Parker, 83, of Lumberton, N.C., died on Saturday morning, June 25, 2016. She was born in Robeson County on Dec. 13, 1932, a daughter of Fred Neil Britt, Sr., and Mary Kinlaw Britt. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Boles-Biggs Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Tim Tyner officiating. Interment will follow in the New Hollywood Cemetery under the direction of Boles-Biggs Funeral Home. Surviving are three daughters, Dianne Britt and Katherine W. Rice both of Lumberton, Marie Atkinson of Evergreen; a special niece, Doris Pittman of Orrum; a brother, E.H. "Pete" Britt of Lumberton; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Robert Smith LUMBERTON — Robert Danny Smith, 63, of Lumberton, died June 23, 2016, at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton. He was born in Robeson County, N.C., on Jan. 22, 1953, to the late Robert E. Smith and the late Delma Lawson Smith. He worked in textiles as a machine operator. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Barry Ellison Smith. Mr. Smith is survived by his sisters, Teresa Diggers (Ronald) of Lumberton, and Brenda Bringle (Ken) of Pembroke; his nephews, Jeff Britt, Michael Britt, and Trae Kinlaw; a great-niece, Keelee Britt; a great-nephew, Jo Jo Britt; a special friend, Ellen McPherson; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. The visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory Inc., 809 E. Fifth St. in Lumberton. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Floyd Memorial Chapel, the Rev.
