Strong, Curtis - Hamlet  
Curtis "Chief" Strong HAMLET — Curtis "Chief" Strong, 73, of 110 Third St., Hamlet, died Jan. 26, 2015, at First Health Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst. He was born March 13, 1941, in Robenson County, son of Ashbell Strong and Isienora Locklear. "Chief' was a truck driver by trade and attended Tabernacle Church. The visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Harrington Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Abundant Life Church, the Revs. John Prine and Joe Wilkes officiating. He is survived by the love of his life, Elaine Huckabee of the home; his stepdaughters, Marie Polson Tucker (Leonard) of Kentucky, Hope Polson Blue (Jamie) of Hamlet and Odessa Polson Robinson (Stevie) of Hamlet; his sons, Danny Curtis Strong of Kentucky and Daniel Strong of Aberdeen; his brothers, Telden Strong of Maryland, Tommy Strong of Winston-Salem, James Earl Locklear of Maxton and Johnny Boy Locklear of Maxton; a sister, Cearlean Strong of Hamlet; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Teets, Cody  
Cody Donovan Teets PEMBROKE — Mr. Cody Donovan Teets, 20, of 819 Old Main Road, Pembroke was born Sept. 9, 1994, and died Jan. 25, 2015, at UNC Hospital-Chapel Hill. He was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandparents, Mr. Walter and Mrs. Bertha Pinchbeck; an uncle, Mr. Francis Pinchbeck; and his grandfather, Mr. Henry Edward "Deda" Teets. As a young boy, Cody enjoyed camping and traveling. In Boy Scouts Troop 27, he attended the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scout Association at the National Boy Scout Jamboree in Virginia. He received many gold medals in swimming and awards for writing and craft work. He enjoyed cooking, eating and playing. Cody was a gifted artist and writer and a 2013 graduate of Purnell Swett Senior High School. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Berea Baptist Church, the Revs. Chris Hunt and Steve Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in the Berea Church Cemetery. Surviving are his father, Mr. Darryl Teets of Pembroke; his mother, Ms. Paula Oxendine (Leo Edwards) of Pembroke; his sister, Ms. Darian Renee Teets of Pembroke; two brothers, Mr. Joshua and Mr. Jeremiah Oxendine of Pembroke; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Mary Alice Teets of Pembroke; his maternal grandmother, Ms. Molly Oxendine of Pembroke; and his maternal grandfather, Mr. Harley Oxendine of Raleigh; and a host of friends and family. Dawan Thompson LUMBERTON — Dawan Sheriff Thompson, 42, of 130 Dresden Ave., Lumberton, died Jan. 28, 2015. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Colvin Funeral Home Chapel. He is survived by his son, Donald Scott; a finance, Hazel McCray; a sister, Shay Frances Thompson of Houston, Texas; two godsisters, Ella Denise Thompson of Bloomfield, N.J., and Jacqueline Arletha McLeod of Belleville, N.J.; two brothers, Jimmie Lee Thompson of Wake Forest and Richard Lee Thompson of Dillion, S.C.; a stepdaughter, Dora A. Scott; and special friends, Robert and Ann Grice.

Tilley, Richard - Lumberton  
Richard Tilley LUMBERTON — Mr. Richard Dean Tilley, 73, passed away Jan. 29, 2015, at GlenFlora Assisted Living of Lumberton. He was born in Camden, Maine, on Sept. 12, 1941, to the late George and Mary Inman Tilley. He formerly served and retired from the U.S. Army (E-8). Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Prevatte Tilley. He is survived by a son, Alvin Junius Bullock Jr. and wife Julie of Raleigh; two brothers, Herbie Tilley and wife Alma of Old Town, Fla., and Robert Tilley of Butte, Montana; and two grandchildren, William Clifton Carroll Bullock of Raleigh and Mary Amelia Bush and husband Byron, also of Raleigh. A memorial will be held at 1 p.m. today at Floyd Memorial Chapel, the Rev. Steve Johnson officiating. The visitation will take place one hour before the service, from noon to 1 p.m. today at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory. Margaret Wells FAIRMONT — Ms. Margaret Wells, 80, of Fairmont, passed away Jan. 28, 2015, at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton. A graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lewis-Leggett family cemetery, the Rev. Joe Bounds officiating. The visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Floyd Funeral Services in Fairmont. Wells was born April 11, 1934, in Robeson County She was preceded in death by her parents, Douglas and Pearl Lewis. She is survived by her son, James Clifton Huggins Jr. of Lumberton; four daughters, Elizabeth "Libby" Huggins Jackson of Lumberton, Ellen Huggins of Lumberton, Linda H. Britt and husband William of Lumberton, and Ann Wells Seals and husband Bill of Orrum; a brother, Thomas Lewis of Fairmont; seven grandchildren, Chris, Elizabeth, Victoria, Kathryn, Emily, Destiny, and Tiffany; and two great-grandchildren, Maggie and Scarlett. Woods, Linda - Laurinburg  
Linda Faye Woods MAXTON — Linda Faye Woods, 57, of Maxton, passed away on Jan. 29, 2015, at Scotland Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. A memorial will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Richard Boles Funeral Services Chapel. Linda was born March 9, 1957, in Scotland County, daughter of the late Jim David Williams and Eveline Woods Williams. Before her illness, Linda was a construction worker who attended Victory Holiness Church. She was a person who loved to be outside, and enjoyed working in her yard. Linda also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, the Rev. Everette Dean Woods and David Earl Williams. Linda is survived by her daughter, Latisha Carroll (William) of Maxton; her brother, Jimmy Williams of Laurel Hill; her sisters, Beverly Mangum of Creedmoor, and Cynthia Hunt of Laurinburg; her grandchildren, Alexis Scott and Shania Scott; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. The visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday before the service at Richard Boles Funeral Services Chapel.
