FAIRMONT — Douglas F. Dickens, 85, of Fairmont, and North Myrtle Beach, S.C., died Jan. 11, 2014, at SECU Hospice House in Bolivia.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fairmont Cemetery on Bypass 130, the Rev. Joe Bounds officiating.

Mr. Dickens was born in Brunswick County in 1928 and grew up in Fairmont. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fairmont.

Mr. Dickens was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Ivey Dickens; his parents, F.L. "Seaward" and Mary Clyde Dickens; a sister, Mildred Dickens Wilson; and a brother, F.L. "Lofton" Dickens.

Mr. Dickens is survived by a sister, Doris Odom of Wilmington; a son, Phil Dickens of Lexington, S.C.; and his wife's children, Jeff L. Davis of Zebulon, Larry F. Davis of Lexington, and Violet Kay Davis Faulk of Fairmont; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The visitation will be following the service at the graveside.
