Evelyn G. Sampson

PEMBROKE — Evelyn G. Sampson (Munk), 92, of 5084 Union Chapel Road, Pembroke, was born Sept. 21, 1921, and died Feb. 13, 2014.

The funeral services will be 3 p.m. Monday at Union Chapel Holiness Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Oxendine Cemetery.

Ms. Sampson was born in Robeson County, she was a factory worker, homemaker and was well known for her quilts and sewing in the community. She was known as "Granny" by everyone.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Arena Chavis; husband Charlie C. Sampson; Grandson Ronald B. Sampson; her granddaughter, Dawn D. Oxendine; and three sisters; two brothers.

She is survived by five daughters, Berntha Locklear (Laney), Linda Bullard (Hilton), Connie Johnson (Ralph), all of Pembroke, Argie Locklear (Gearld) of Charlotte, and Kathy Sampson of the home; a son, Charlie Sampson (Wendy) of Pembroke; 24 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. She will truly be missed by all.

The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Revels Funeral Home Pembroke.
