FAIRMONT — The Rev. George John Elliott, 91, of Fairmont, passed away on Feb. 27, 2014, at his residence.

A memorial will be 2 p.m. Saturday at West Lumberton Baptist Church in Lumberton.

He was born in Jersey City, N.J. on July 9, 1922, to the late Harry Elliott and the late Philena Provost Elliott. He was a World War II veteran who served in the European, African and Middle Eastern Theater.

Mr. George is survived by his wife of 65 years, Emily Smith Elliott of the home; two sons, Stephen John Elliott (Barbara) of League City, Texas, and Bruce David Elliott (Brenda) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter, Susan Jean Belles (Barry) of Fairmont; six grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the home of Barry and Susan Belles at 4686 E. Raynham Fairmont.
