LUMBERTON — Polly Henrietta Roberts Fox, 94, of Lumberton, died Jan. 4, 2014, at Hospice of Davidson County.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Lumberton. Entombment will take place at Gardens of Faith Mausoleum.
Mrs. Fox was born April 7, 1919, in Calhoun, Ga., to the late Henry and Mary Roberts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. George Arnold Fox.
She attended Georgia University, where she received her BS degree in teaching and furthered her education at UNC in Chapel Hill, where she received her master's degree in education where she became a member of ADK, Alpha Delta Kappa sorority.
Mrs. Fox was a long-time member of First Baptist Church. She spent her free time working with Girl Scouts, and competing in ballroom dancing.
She held many positions in the community including, the director of Instructional Service of Lumberton City Schools from 1962-81, served on the Board of Education from 1982-89, and as an Ikenobo State Flower Judge.
Her surviving loved ones are her daughter, Terrese Price of Winston-Salem; a son-in-law, Terry Price; her grandson, George Wesley Price and wife Samantha of Winston-Salem; two great-granddaughters, Jaiden Olivia Price and Jordan Terrese Price of the home; her brother, Randall Roberts of Calhoun, Ga.; her sisters, Katherine Lewis of Atlanta, Hilda Worthington of Greenville, and Wanda Thurman and husband Randall of Gainesville, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Biggs Funeral Home of Lumberton.
