RED SPRINGS — Reola Locklear, 91, of 40 Reola Drive, Red Springs, was born Aug. 25, 1922, and departed this life on Jan. 12, 2014, at her home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Praise and Worship Ministries, the Revs. Teddy Jacobs, Chris Miller, and Ricky Deese officiating. Burial will follow in Galilee Baptist Church Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her loving and faithful husband of 70 years, Russell Locklear; her parents, Braxton Locklear and Anna Jane Locklear; a son, Russell Locklear Jr.; two grandchildren, Henry Bonnette and Chad Everette Carter; three brothers, Harley W. Locklear, Munson Locklear, and Jesse Colonel Locklear; five sisters, Viola Hunt, Quessie Mae Oxendine, Mamie Lee Locklear, Blue Bell Lancaster, and Mattie Bell Oxendine.

Mrs. Locklear is survived by five sons, Charles (Peggy) Locklear of Willow Springs, Jessie (Vicky) Locklear of Lumberton, the Rev. Marlie (Marcia) Locklear, Jerry Ray (Sue) Locklear, and Larry (Patsy) Locklear, all of Red Springs; five daughters, Ola Lee (Clarmont) Bonnette, Angela (Randy) Scott, both of Pembroke, Diana (Carlton) Locklear, Rose Mary (James) Locklear, Teresa (Rev.Teddy) Jacobs, all of Red Springs; seven brothers, Early B. Locklear, Spencer Locklear, Billy Locklear, Huberton Locklear, James Locklear, Charlis Locklear, and Wayne Locklear; four sisters, Winnie Lee Jones, Mary Lee Locklear, Lenora Locklear, and Jan Locklear; 30 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a special nephew, Harold Hunt; and a host of relatives and friends.

Mrs. Locklear was blessed enough to see all 11 her children get saved. She also sang with The Locklear Sisters for 50 years.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
