FAIRMONT — Bishop Charles Oliver McDowell, 74, of 246 Progressive Farm Road, died Dec. 15, 2013, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the A.D. Lewis auditorium at Robeson Community College in Lumberton. Burial will follow in Kirk Field Cemetery in Orrum.

He is survived by his wife, Cora Grice McDowell of the home; a son, Frank Carl McDowell of Tennessee; three daughters, Kathryn McDowell Baker of High Point, Angela McDowell Taylor of Charlotte, and Rita Nealy of Norfolk, Va.; a brother, Paul McDowell of Maxton; a sister, Brenda Nealy of High Point; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a special friend and cousin, Paul Shipman of Fairmont.

The viewing will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday at True Faith Fellowship Church in Florence, S.C. A memorial will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Savanna Grove Baptist Church in Effingham, S.C., and a viewing will be one hour before the service at The A.D. Lewis auditorium in Lumberton.
