FAIRMONT — Ella Glois Hunt, 78, 15B Siouan Circle, Fairmont, passed away on Aug. 23, 2013, at her home,
The funeral was held at 3 p.m. on Aug. 25, 2013, at Boles Funeral Services, 312 W. Main St., Rowland, N.C. Burial followed at the Lumbee Memorial Gardens in Lumberton. The family greeted friends from noon to 3 p.m. Aug. 25, 2013, at Boles Funeral Services.
Ella G. Hunt was born on Sept. 16, 1934, to Braxton and Mary Etta Hunt in Dillon County, S.C. Ella later married Ernest Hunt.
Ella G. Hunt finished cosmetology school in 1964 from Winston-Salem Beauty Academy and started a career as an accomplished beautician where she made lifelong friendships. Ms. Hunt was also a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church in Fairmont, N.C. Hunt was an icon to her community and an avid politician serving as a member of the LRDA board.
Ella G. Hunt was preceded by her daughter, Teresa Gail Hunt; five brothers, Clancy Hunt, Nance Hunt, Setler Hunt, Delton Hunt and Lucious Hunt; five sisters, Iva Hunt, Edith Strickland, Alma Hunt, Elsie Bagcal, Charity Hunt; and a great-grandchild, Alexis Angel Hunt.
She is survived by her husband, Ernest Hunt of Fairmont; two sons, Kenneth P. Hunt and wife Margie of Fairmont, and Gary L. Hunt and wife Myra of Charlotte; four grandchildren, Towonaka Hunt of Fairmont, Glois Hunt of Fairmont, Chance Hunt of Lumberton, and Terri Hunt of Fairmont; a special daughter, Janice Oxendine; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roucious "Skinner" Hunt of Rowland, and Charles "Butch" Hunt of Rowland; three sisters, Coleada Ransom of Rowland, Evelyn Jacobs of Lumberton, and Lena Oxendine of Wilmington.
Boles Funeral Home of Rowland will be serving the family.
