Gertrude S. Hunt
LUMBERTON — Mrs. Gertrude Sampson Hunt, 82, of 11655 N.C. Highway 41 North, departed this life on March 23, 2014, at home with her family by her side.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Bethel Hill Baptist Church, the Rev. Jimmy Hammonds, Ricky Burnett and Bro. James Sampson Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Lumbee Memorial Gardens.
She was born on Aug. 28, 1931, to the late John Wesley and Addie Carter Sampson.
Mrs. Hunt was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Fay Morgan; a grandson, Patrick Morgan; five brothers, James, Leander, Ernest, Marvin and Wilbert Sampson; and two sisters, Willa Oxendine and Margie Hunt.
Mrs. Hunt was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed. She was a member of Bethel Hill Baptist Church.
She leaves to cherish her memories her son, Ronnie Morgan and wife Vashti of St. Pauls; two daughters, Betty Chavis and husband Chuck of the home, Cathy Zurcher and husband Tom, both of Lumberton; special granddaughter, Heather Nicole Woods; two very special great-grandsons, Johnathon Taylor and Acelan Woods, all of Maxton; a loving friend and caregiver of eight wonderful year, Lora (Lois) Singletary; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Revels Funeral Home Lumberton.
