MAXTON — Marvin Levern Mendoza, 64, of Maxton, passed away on June 15, 2014, at Morrison Manor.
The funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Union Light Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, the Revs. Carson Smiling, Romey Revels and Bernard Locklear will officiate the services.
Marvin was born in Robeson County on July 9, 1949, son of the late Samuel and Bertha Smith, and biological mother, the late Virginia Hunt. He loved the Lord and served as a faithful member of Union Light Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, farming and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Damien Shay Hammonds; and his brothers, Thomas Mendoza and James Hunt.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Mendoza of the home; his sons, Timmy Mendoza of Maxton, and Anthony Mendoza of California; his daughters, Nickolan Jacobs and Robbie Mendoza, both of Maxton, and Carol Mendoza of Lumberton; his stepfather, Troy Hunt; a brother, Sam "Pop" Smith Jr., of Maxton; his sisters, Brenda Scott, Edna Locklear, Mildred McGirt, Margaret Jones and Vera Epps, all of Maxton, Peggy Revels of Pembroke, and Mabel Sampson of Rowland; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
The visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Union Light Baptist Church.
