MONTPELIER, Ind. — Mary M. Moorehead, 86, of Montpelier, Ind., passed away at 12:35 a.m. on Oct. 21, 2013, at her home in Montpelier.
Family and friends may join to celebrate Mary's life at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Prospect United Methodist Church, 3929 Missouri Road in Maxton, N.C., the Revs. Dr. Kenneth Locklear and Dr. Robert Mangum officiating. Entombment will follow in the Moore family cemetery in Prospect, N.C.
She was born on Tuesday, June 21, 1927, in Prospect, N.C. Mary graduated from Prospect High School and from Pfiefer University with her education degree, both of North Carolina. She also earned a master's degree in Home Economics from Ball State University. Throughout her teaching career Mary taught at Rockcreek School in Wells County, Roll School in Blackford Cunty, and Marion Schools in Grant County. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Montpelier. Mary was also a member of the Indiana State Teachers Association (ISTA), Montpelier Tri Kappa, Delta Kappa Gamma and served on the Blackford Mental Health Board for many years. Mary enjoyed quilting, sewing and spending time with her family and friends. She was a dedicated mother, teacher and friend.
Survivors include her daughters, Patricia M. and husband John Maddox of Carmel, Ind., and Jan M. and husband Martin Daniel of Hartford City, Ind.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother James Moore of Pembroke, N.C.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charlie H. Moore; her mother, Marie (Sampson) Moore; her brothers, Charles Moore, Curtis Moore and Henry Moore; her sisters, Carrie Dial and Marjorie Rhodes; and great-granddaughter, Delena Conklin.
