LUMBERTON — Nellie O'Dwyer Burch, 83, of Lumberton, passed away at her residence on March 29, 2014.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church, Father John Gillespie officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Faith Cemetery.
She was born in Wilmington, New Hanover County, on April 23, 1930, to the late James O'Dwyer and the late Nellie Kelly O'Dwyer.
She previously worked as a legal secretary for Freeman Investments. She graduated from New Hanover High School in 1948, Robeson Community College in 1981, and was a member of Who's Who of College Students in 1981.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, P. Holley Burch; a son, Phillip H. Burch Jr.; a sister, Mary Agnes O'Dwyer Lange; and a brother-in-law, Norman H. Lange.
Mrs. Burch is survived by her sons, Martin Joseph Burch and wife Debby of Lumberton, Michael Patrick Burch and wife Kelly of Youngsville, and John Andrew Burch and wife Tammy of Apex; her daughters, Therese Burch and husband Murray of Lumberton, and Catherine Burch Pedersen of Lumberton; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory Inc., 809 E. Fifth St. in Lumberton.
