LUMBERTON – Edgar Stephen Pittman, 70, passed away April 24, 2014, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Antioch Baptist Church, the Revs. William Meares and Mark Meadows officiating. Burial will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.
He was born in Robeson County on Nov. 30, 1943, to the late Mard Pittman and the late Beatrice Parnell Pittman. He served in the U.S. Army as a Sgt. Military Police Officer in Japan. He was also formerly employed as an electrician for American Mechanical Electrical Company.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, David Pittman; and two sisters, Barbara "Bob" Pittman and Eunice Wilkins.
He is survived by his son, Edgar S. Pittman II of Lumberton; his daughters, Rhonda Kay Lamb and husband Garett and Stephanie Ann Prevatte, all of Lumberton; two brothers, Mard Pittman and wife Ann and Tommy Pittman and wife Brenda, all of Bladenboro; five sisters, Doris "Dot" Waddell and husband Robert of Byron, Ga., Ruby Pittman of Lumberton, Nell Taylor of Bladenboro, Jean Wilkins of Concord, and Esther Alford of Lumberton; two granddaughters, Summer and Ashley Prevatte; and lots of nieces and nephews.
The visitation will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory Inc.
