FAIRMONT — James Wayland Ivey, 79, of 137 Harrington Road, Fairmont, passed away April 29, 2014, at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Fairmont First Baptist Church, the Revs. Tim Tyner and Jackie Spillers officiating. Burial will be private.
He was born Sept. 26, 1934.
Ivey was preceded in death by his parents, James Edward and Lillie Hill Ivey; his wife, Kathryn Sexton Ivey; a son, Richard Mark Ivey; and a sister, Phyllis Hardin.
He is survived by his daughter, Karen Ivey Hill and husband Robert of Fairmont; a brother, Royce Ivey of Wilmington; two sisters, Myrna Ivey of Fairmont, and Brenda Lupo of Lumberton; his granddaughters, Tonya (Grant) Caldwell of Raleigh, Dani Hill of Fairmont, and Melanie Hill of Lake View; his great-grandchildren, Gracey Odum and Elijah Wayland Caldwell; a special friend and caretaker, Darlene Poole; and loving and caring staff at Woodhaven Nursing Center.
The visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Floyd Funeral Services in Fairmont.
