Ray Bowman Demery
PEMBROKE — Mr. Ray Bowman Demery, 72, of 62 Trenten Drive, Pembroke was born July 16, 1941, and departed this life on May 8, 2014, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be conducted 3 p.m. Monday at Mt. Airy Baptist Church, the Revs: Steve Strickland and Dufrene Cummings officiating. Burial will follow in the Demery family cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Harlie W. & Mrs. Emma D. Locklear.
Mr. Ray was a hard working and honest man. He enjoyed fishing in his spare time and spending time with his family. He was a man of his word and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Clara Mae Demery of the home; a son, Ray Demery Jr.(Marie); a daughter, Mrs. Tammy D. Smith (Trent) of Pembroke; six grandchildren, Mrs. Ashley Locklear (Ryan), Mr. Derrick Ray Demery-a son that he raised as his own, Mr. Robert Dean Demery, Mr. Anthony Ray Demery, Mr. Trenten Ray Smith and Mr. Tyler Smith; three great-grandchildren, Destiny Locklear, Dakota Locklear and Nolan Locklear; three brothers, Mr. Jimmy Demery (Susan), the Rev. George L. Locklear (Sharon) and Mr. Harlie W. Locklear Jr., all of Pembroke; two sisters in Christ, Ms. Lucille Oxendine and Mrs. Helen Grace Locklear; and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
